I was reminded of our anthem 2 weekends ago while reuniting with some college BESTS in our Nyc. True story: In college Emily, Brittany and I used to get PUMPED UP to this song before hittin the town for the night. It was our go to rally up song!! I can remember driving in Emily's old suv, which was always running on E, blasting this song on our way to Cucinas and singing at the top of our lungs to our happy melody. Britt always had her butterfly eyes (compliments of Emilys make up make overs) and we were all always so TAN! So young. So clueless. So free!

...and then life moved from our bubble in wpbfl to our NYC apt in murrycurryhillmanhattan.

and now...

Britt just got engaged!! And Guess What I received in the mail today :) My BRIDESMAID INVITE. So exciting. I love Em and Britt so much. I am so thankful and blessed to know that these 2 friendships will continuing marching...up the other side of the mountain...

I find myself lost in a zone of reminiscence this evening. Perhaps it was my Mother's text reminding me that tomorrow marks 2 years of my second chance at life, or that I am greatly anticipating traveling back to a past residence that I am still so deeply in love with. It could also be that I am antsy to venture off into the world of the unknown again...or it could simply be the 2 glasses of red- which trigger an emotional state of nostalgia within. Regardless, I do not believe I have ever really thought through the reality of a particular past year of my life. There were so many events, experiences, milestones, people and not to mention- HOMES (5 to be exact). I look back at it all now and I can understand why my life has brought me to where I am today. Why I have- by choice, been tucked/isolated away in the midst of No where, Tennessee for the past year of my life. Why I frequently, and humorously, instruct my roommate to refer to me as her "foreign exchange roommate." Ja. It has definitely been a year of rest. Consistency. A year of recuperation. Peace.
Reminisce:

June 2009- Moved from living in Nyc for 14 months to...

Colorado for the summer, where afterwards- instead of traveling to Spain, as planned,

I experienced, and survived, my first car accident...

which left me in Recovery mode from Aug 3, 2009-Feb 15, 2010

Broken "lovely bones" & stuck in Florida with Doug, Aaltje & Slips

until recovered and

I booked myself a one way ticket to...

living in the Dominican Republic from Feb 2010-June 2010.

I loved traveling somewhere not knowing a soul upon arrival- and leaving my time there knowing I met the sweetest soulmates.

chattanooga weekend/4th of july hike

I love to get out of an area code for a weekend. Especially to explore a new land I have never set foot upon before.

This one occurred a few weekends ago by way of road

trip.

The historic & mountainous Chattanooga, Tennessee

For one who has never visited I would compare it to another Asheville, NC or a very small version of Denver, Co.

Be a tourist. Go to Lookout mountain and ask, "Who lives up here?"

Other things we did while there: farmers market, junk yard pickin, listening to live music outdoors, Aretha frankensteins for Brunch , Tacomamacita for REALLY good mexican food and the the Terminal brewhouse for a beer and lunch

I'd say this city is very accommodating to kids/families- to visit or live- not to mention the way of life is super cheap- that's TN in general though- get it while it's Hot?

I counted 3 bridges- 2 of which were for my pedestrian enjoyment

Chattanooga is also very artsy/ecletic.

Never had I seen a fence made out of old bicycles :)

It happened...About a month ago... I officially programmed a favorite radio station button in the ford back to Country. Yes, the country seems to have slipped back into my blood again. It only took 1 year of living here in music land aka Nashville, Tn. NOTE: last week marked my official ONE year of living here in TENNESSEE. Furthermore, I haven't been listening to no country music since back in the early 2000's. The music takes me back to my roots. My home town. Which ironically Jake is from as well- hanging out at Vero's ole faithful Riverside Bar, where on any given weekend night, or holiday weekend, you are for certain to run into just about EVERYONE from your childhood.

Snatched up these shorts from a local thrift. Yes. Another one of my 99 cent finds; however, these particular shorts you really don't have to dig for. There's got to be over 100 pairs of these old schools at any given thrift (or goodwill). So all you'd have to do is grab a dozen, take the time to try them on and you're bound to find a pair, or 5, that squeeze your mold best. I think I may go back and get another pair. Perhaps make them into cut offs. They are just so perfect for this season of HEAT!

The other day, while driving along throughout my ho dunk town, I found a rather large, hidden wall. AND upon the entire wall are the painted stripes & stars of our American flag. So appropriate for the 4th of July, I know. And so appropriate for the photo opp I plan to orchestrate SMACK in front of it come Sunday afternoon.

Amazima Ministries! I am beginning to plan for my future travels come January 2012- 1st stop Uganda, Africa. A friend told me she follows a blog of a girl who lives there. After looking it up I was awe struck on the spot. Everything about about it- butterflies. LARGE ones. So inspirational. It just made me that much more excited about the experiences & opportunities that lie ahead. You can see my butterflies here and here.

I purchased 2 for the price of 1 PLANE TICKETS last night. (Happy Birthday Southwest. Muchas gracias!) One ticket to NYC, duh, for my Birthday in Aug. The other for Chicago to visit my brother (& fam) while he is still here in the USA.

I made a new friend! Her name is Luz. She is from Columbia. Yes, please.

I'm always so amazed by our creator's strong diligence in continually filtering out the "goods" in my life ("sometimes what is good is the enemy of what is best"). Although so often I do not understand His mysterious reasonings, I find the most immense peace, and even JOY, in the assurance that there is a greater plan in store- a really, really great one. My life is always so unpredictable. Each year is always so different. And yet even w/ all the inconsistencies & uncertainties I know I am on the right track. It's my path. My drum. Above & Below is where the reception began...

This first venue is called the Carriage House. It was my favorite. I loved all the original woodwork, wrought iron accents & the intricate vaulted ceilings. Basically a southern style barn- very warm & intimate. OH, and most importantly, it had a touch of class with the chanedliers. Yes, please.

My nephew, David, carries his "pack pack" with him every where he goes. He couldn't wait for the reception to begin so that he could get back to what he loves most- his cars.

Naomi was more interested in her bag of activities provided at the wedding ceremony- the bag was GENUIS- everything wedding themed- so cute!.... stickers, coloring book, crayons, bubbles & a RING POP! (No worries I snatched a bag up for myself as well).

I'm so thankful that each time my brother & rebecca come home to the U.S. they bring forth to me a new baby. So ya'll should take a good, long look at him now b/c next time you'll see the 2 of us together he'll be a toddlin around.

I've had this dress for years. I've never got around to wearing it though. Aaltje brought it out from its hidings in my fl home closet. She came all the way to TN for me to wear her this past wkend. I think I'll wear her for a few more weddings before putting her back to rest (:

There were so many gardens, little bridges & vineyards- beautiful photo opportunities throughout the whole venue.

The wedding ended with a lovely 10-15 minute firework display upon the green, over looking the vineyards, sitting in lawn chairs. The kids loved it!

Although the official day for summer begins June 21st, the weather here in TN tells me otherwise. It tells me GET CHO BATHING SUIT ON, GIRL...Oh, and it also tells me "stop being a fatty!" Something about less clothing and heat inspires me to spend more of my free hours being as active as possible- for starters biking and walking every where you go. I LOVE to be outdoors as much as possible. It's probably the Florida girl in me. I'm used to summer being year round- a minority state it surely is... and so I suppose any time other states provide me with my season of choice I just feel more at home.

I have been in awe throughout the past few months over all the awakened spring flowers. More specifically though, the purple dandelions. Pammy has an adnormal amount of these beautiful weeds growing all over her backyard (lucky).

Pam wanted pictures of this dress I'm wearing (SHE MADE IT)- and I wanted to capture all the dandies.

So glad summer is here. I love being outdoors in the wide open country.

    I meant to post this a few days ago when I got the exciting & much anticipated news. . . . .

I am so pleased with this news and couldn't be more excited for my BFF, Doctor Sarah, Doctor Best Friend. She has worked so hard to get where she now deserves to be. !!!!!!!!!!!

I love her so much. She is literally my other half. Wishing we were together while she frolicks among the numerous streets of her new world. Soon enough our worlds will collide- of this I am certain.

Until then...

She will enjoy the refreshing season of spring- amongst the flowers

while picnicing in the park.

Until SUMMER arrives in the city...

and she will lounge amongst sheeps meadow, bryant, central, prospect & so many other amazing parks.

I've never been one to pinpoint a favorite designer, but I think God smiled a little larger upon me the day he exposed my eyes to her designs. She designs everything that depicts what I love and how I strive to always be.

From the designer: My inspiration was to further explore the balance between tailored menswear and inherent feminine style. I worked within a saturated palette of bold blues, pinks and reds - color blocking a of line blazers, party dresses, and gowns all underscored by my approach to simplicity and ease. I designed the collection conscious of the fact that the clothes would be arriving in stores in July - mixing up light chiffons with silk failles and wool satins to create a transitional wardrobe that will carry a woman through the seasons.

It happened. . .We came. . .We saw. . .And we celebrated. . .HVH. !$!VEGAS STYLE!$!

I think this entire trip compiles into 28 hours if I am not mistaken. We all arrived Friday afternoon and scampered off :( early Sunday morning. Loved it. Every waking minute (and they were majority all waken).

Last weekend of April

This past Saturday I woke up to attend a friend's MARATHON in downtown Nashville. It was such the perfect day for it....

I knew Jim was a disciplined runner but I had NO IDEA "there's no jim like my jim" is AN OFFICIAL CHAMP. My mind is still blown away by his ranking. Jim placed/finished 15 out of 7,000 other Marathon Runners!!!! see website results

No big deal. I just ran 27 miles and I feel great.? Jim was so unphased and quite the humble participant upon completing this HUGE accomplishment. Don't worry, Dear, I'll brag it up for ya.

2 hours : 54 minutes (His 1st marathon)

The weather cut my cold blooded bones a break this weekend. Finally some sun and warmth for a change. I chose to embrace it with bare legs :), some kite flying/frisbee at the park, friends, outdoor eatting, long walks, a dedication, bare feet and lastly a culdesac bbq with the neighbors.

So Michelle and I decided we wanted to visit Florida together to visit our friends- Sarah, Heather & Celeste. Booked the tickets. Word spread. And soon enough Britt & Amy booked tickets to fly in from Nyc. And Shannie, Sadie & Cami decided to drive over from Bradenton. "If you build it they will come." This trip/reunion turned out to be one of my favorites. I love all of these girls so much & it was so special and refreshing to be surrounded by all of them for a few quick, CrAzY days.

I kinda forgot it was St Patricks Day due to my much anticipated "Happy Arrival Day!!"

The next night was my favorite. Sadie secretly planned a surprise Pre-Bachlorette outting for Heather...

This past weekend I took a trip home for a visit with my friends and family. I LOVED every minute of it. Who would have thought that a place I grew up in my whole life and COULDN'T WAIT to move away from would turn out to be MY GREATEST CUP OF TEA OF ALL.

I thought I'd dedicate this post to FLORIDA. The Beaches. My Family. And a Monarch Butterfly.

Doug & Aaltje scooped me up in Palm Bch where we proceeded to enjoy the Beach & eat a delish brunch before making our way up to Vero Bch (the hometown)

Aaltje asked me what I'd like to do on my 1 day home in Vero. I responded, "Of course, fly a Kite!"

So I purchased my Monarch Butterfly Kite (Walgreens $3.99). Aatje & I assembled. Dad photo-ed and...

We lifted off.

Into the Sky and into the Day.

She was my pet! We walked and walked. All the way to lunch at Mulligans.

i like my red wine with 1 cube of ice. my cherry for each day is driving passed the same llama farm. sometimes they are right by the fence and i can see them up close. sometimes they are galloping (thats my favorite). for my birthday this year i only wish to spend my day with the llamas. petting and picnicing. i think they are awkwardly lucky & lovely. i wish to ride in a hot air balloon all by myself.

my next splurge will be a pair of tory burch flats. i like this time between then and now. i have ants in my pants & can't remember area codes. maybe i was just meant to be a gypsy.

i sleep with a robot and a gorilla. i liked it when you brought her to me. the sweetest surprise was when he surprised me with flip flops to wear home that morning. mademoiselle. i miss florida. i never thought i'd say that. my best friend sends me a snapple fact a day. I do not have any pictures for our next stop, Cool Springs Mall. We had to make this pit stop to find some better suitable attire for the day - sundresses (matching ones)and red lipstick. 11:00 am

12:30 pm And then we made a stop at our local Publix (our happy place) to pick up nibbles for our picnic. Outside of Publix was a line of puppies up for adoption. And so we adopted this one, whom we have named Bernice.

I have an ugly thumb. Just one.

My first realization/memory of ugly thumb can be dated back to Kindergarten. I remember purposely tucking my thumb underneath my palm, believing that the abnormality of appearing to only have 4 fingers was far less atrocious than the exposure and infliction of my ugly thumb upon my fellow K5 classmates. Throughout the years, I have been comforted by meeting about a handful of individuals who share my deformity (1st one being my Grammy). God Bless Us All.
Furthermore, the most recent individual I have met (whom has TWO ugly thumbs) informed me that our ugly thumbs have actually a scientific term for them. WHHAAATT!!?!?!! Yeh. I am now not only comforted by a handful of ugly thumb owners, but a WORLD of ugly thumbs UNANIMOUS!

Life is not always so lovely. It truly isn't. Here we were created to live on a earth that is quite frequently beating us down and breaking our hearts.

I'd say I have been growing in a very particular style within the past 3 years. Previous to these years I lived a lifestyle that I would describe as empty, regretful and dark. I was displeased with the habitual person I was becoming, and so it was then that I made the decision to relinquish my freewill of mundanity & pursue a greater existence that I had only dreamt of.

I left behind an old deteriorated mold of jo & brought w/ me only two friends: faith and hope.
